Abel Original Art is run by, former video editor, comic shop owner and comic art collector, Chris Abel. Chris owned and operated Genesis Comics in Houston, TX from 1995 until mid-2000, where he was behind an early viral website called The Swipe of the Week. Chris began collecting original comic art in 1997 due to his friendship with the late art collector, Henry Huie. He moved to Los Angeles in late 2000, to work in the film industry. In the last 25 years Chris has been buying and selling original art.

Chris moved back to Texas in 2020 and exited the film industry in early 2021. Chris decided to focus on buying and selling original art full time. Abel Original Art is his full time foray into the world of original comic art dealing.

Starting In late 2024, Chris began creating t-shirt designs around pop culture and in 2025 started our sister site, Latchkey Design. It’s designs feature Gen X, Millennial and Gen Z along with pop culture references.
